The incident occurred after Argentina eliminated England in the World Cup semifinal.

Barco, who was an unused substitute during the match, entered the pitch during Argentina's celebrations after Enzo Fernández scored the equalizing goal.

The Argentina player ran along the edge of the penalty area while celebrating and was involved in an exchange with England defender John Stones, who appeared to push him away as he moved across the field.

After the final whistle, Bellingham approached Barco while the Argentine player was celebrating with teammates.

Footage appeared to show Bellingham making contact with the back of Barco's head before Barco turned around to confront him.

The situation was quickly brought under control as players from both teams intervened and separated the two players.

FIFA Rules on Violent Conduct

According to the International Football Association Board (IFAB), a player can be guilty of violent conduct if they deliberately strike an opponent or another person on the head or face with their hand or arm when not competing for the ball, unless the contact is considered negligible.

FIFA's disciplinary committee will determine whether the incident meets the criteria for further punishment.

The governing body has not yet confirmed whether Bellingham will face formal charges.

Potential Suspension for Bronze Medal Match

If FIFA determines that the incident qualifies as violent conduct, Bellingham could receive a suspension.

Such a punishment could rule the 23-year-old midfielder out of England's bronze medal match against France in Miami.
